The Nordic Game Conference (NGC) takes place annually in Malmö, Sweden during the spring. It serves as an excellent platform for connecting with developers and key players in the Scandinavian games industry.
Being a gathering point for studios from Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and even Iceland, NGC provides a unique opportunity to engage with this thriving and accomplished community. This makes it an ideal occasion to tap into the immense potential of the Nordic game development scene. Over the past decade, numerous popular games, such as Candy Crush (King), The Division (Massive Entertainment), Minecraft (Microsoft), EVE Online (CCP), Little Nightmares (Tarsier Studios), etc. have emerged from this region.
Since Scandinavian games have experienced remarkable growth in recent years, NGC consistently offers a compelling lineup of speakers and engaging talks year after year. Amidst the talks, side events, and contests, you'll have a good opportunity to connect with other professionals in the game industry within a friendly and open-minded atmosphere.
If this is your first trip to Sweden you might not have even heard of Malmö, much less know how to get there. Although Malmö has its own airport most of its connections are to eastern Europe, so most attendees fly to nearby Copenhagen, in Denmark, and take a train from there.
Fortunately there’s a train from Copenhagen to Malmö every 30 minutes – it’s a popular route – so there’s little risk of missing your connection. And once you arrive at Malmö’s main station, the NGC venue is only a 5-minute walk.

Lunch: Thanks to NGC, the lunch is included and directly at the conference venue.
One great thing about the Nordic Game Conference is that all evening events are open to everyone free of charge, providing excellent networking opportunities for everyone. If you're curious about where everyone gathers after the parties or as an alternative to them, chances are you'll find them at the Mello Yello Bar. Don't forget to bring your badge and enjoy discounted prices on all drinks at the bar.
Malmö is a nice place to explore, and it’s pleasant walking through the city centre or along the river. Since the conference is in mid-May there’s a good chance of sunny weather, so it’s usually warm enough for exploring on foot. There are dozens of game studios in Malmö, and turning the corner and finding yourself face-to-face with one – perhaps the next big success story – is pretty cool.
Since you’re only 30 mins away by train, it’s worth exploring Copenhagen too. You can discover the colourful houses at the famous Nyhavn (“New Harbour”), enjoy a boat tour through the city’s canals, or savour a drink on the riverside. But remember: if you take the train to Copenhagen, bring your passport! You’ll have to cross the Danish/Swedish border to go from one to the other, and without travel ID you’ll be refused entry.
